After 5 weeks of great hotels and golf, Deej's Florida Swing has come to an end. It was an exciting experience for this golf and hotel lover, and I hope you enjoyed tagging along as well. Looking back, there were no shortage of great experiences, but after five weeks, I'd imagine your memory is just as fuzzy as mine. So here's a look back at the best of Deej's Florida Swing.
Best Golf Course
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club - The one course that hasn't hosted a professional event turned out to be my favorite. Rees Jones turned swamp into art at what might be my new favorite course in Orlando.
Favorite Golf Hole
Copperhead at Innisbrook - #5. 605 yards...uphill. Sure, I made a double bogey, but I can still appreciate its greatness...
Most High Five Worthy Golf Shot
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club - 2nd shot - #9. Anytime you hit a shot within 2 inches of the hole, it's going to be good. But to do so from 194 yards and with a giant hotel in the background...well that makes it great.
Best Overall Golf Experience
Bay Hill - The history on display throughout the lodge, combined with a historic and difficult golf course makes this place truly heaven for any golfer.
Best Restaurant
Eleven at Reunion Resort - One of Orlando's best kept secrets. Great food, amazing drinks, and a view that can't be beat.
Made Me Weak in the Knees Dish
Bay Hill - Phenomenal is the only word which could describe their French Toast. If this was available all day, I might have had it for all 3 meals.
Favorite Drink
Granddaddy's Boat - Bloody Mary. No, Granddaddy's Boat was not the name of a bar at one of the resorts. It was truly my Grandfather's boat.... I paid him a visit for dinner during my time at Innisbrook, and enjoyed one of his legendary Bloody Mary's. I hope to inherit the recipe some day.
Best Hotel
Bay Hill - I felt right at home at The Lodge, which was one part man cave, and another part golf museum.
Best Hotel Room
Reunion Resort - I'm not sure why we needed a 1300 square foot villa for just the two of us, but it sure was nice. The 2nd bedroom came in handy for bed jumping contests.
Best Location
Sandestin - It doesn't get any more perfect than a beachfront resort in the beautiful Florida panhandle.
Favorite Pool
Innisbrook - It's shaped like the Loch Ness Monster. Conversation over.
Best Overall Hotel Experience
Waldorf Astoria Orlando. The name says it all...
I'm a little sad to see this series come to an end, but the show must go on. There are new and exciting adventures coming to The World of Deej over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
Finally, I'd like to thank the incredible resorts that hosted Deej's Florida Swing - Sandestin, Reunion, Bay Hill, Innisbrook, and Waldorf Astoria Orlando. This wouldn't have been possible without you, and it's easy to see why you are among the best resorts in the Sunshine State.
Enjoy Your Stay
