I would share those early posts with you, but trust me, you don't want to read them. They're terrible. I'm talking 2000 words and one picture terrible. Still, it was Asheville that inspired me to write my first hotel review, and yes, take a picture of my food in a crowded upscale restaurant.

While we discovered Asheville to be a foodie and beer lovers paradise, The Biltmore Estate is easily the biggest draw to this corner of the Great Smokey Mountains. The Biltmore was the summer home of George Vanderbilt and is the largest private residence in the United States. The French chateau not only features one of the most beautiful pieces of property in the country, but also a winery and the four diamond rated Inn on Biltmore Estate.

We timed our visit to Asheville perfectly, because during the holidays The Biltmore Estate is decorated to the nines. Countless trees and wreaths are scattered throughout the home, and at night the estate turns aglow from the light of 65 fireplaces. If you are having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit, a visit to the Biltmore Estate will certainly do the trick.
