Our trip to Disney last weekend happened to coincide with the annual Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. The festival takes place every spring from early March through the middle of May, and features many special events such as concerts and expert presentations. While the parks are beautifully maintained year round, no other time of year comes close to comparing to the beauty of Epcot during the festival. Here are a few highlights from the festival...
One of the most impressive features of the festival are the numerous topiaries scattered throughout the park. Disney's experts can spend all year working on some of these works of art.
The Japanese cherry blossom trees were in full bloom, just in time for the first weekend of the festival.
A highlight every year at the festival is the butterfly garden. Apparently this one thought he was actually in the movie...
The beauty of the rose garden, slightly offset by the grotesque Tron monorail.
And of course, no festival at Disney would be complete without an appearance by the Mickster.
While having a green thumb seems to run in my family, it is a trait that seems to have passed me by. Nonetheless, even I can appreciate the hard work that Disney's team must put in year round to pull off such a beautiful display, if only for a few weeks. Our trip falling on the festival's first weekend was perfect timing, for in all my visits to Epcot I've never been fortunate enough to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
Perhaps we'll need a weekend getaway the same time next year...
