Magical Blogorail Teal - Christmas in July

Welcome to those of you joining me from Capturing Magical Memories, and to those of you who have just hopped aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail loop, as we celebrate Christmas in July.

Over the years, I've been fortunate to visit both Disney World and Disneyland around Christmas time. Just about every year we plan a weekend down to the World so we can attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, if for no other reason than to see Holiday Wishes. A few years ago, we ventured out to Disneyland for New Years, and while Christmas had already passed, it was great to see all the decorations still in place, as well as the Nightmare Before Christmas version of Haunted Mansion. Without a doubt, however, my favorite Christmas memory at Disney was our wedding at the Boardwalk, and the week long honeymoon which accompanied it.
Holiday Wishes

After over a year of planning, we arrived at the Grand Floridian two days before the big event. That evening we headed over to the Magic Kingdom for the Christmas Party, which sort of served as a "calm before the storm" event, with all of our guests arriving the next day. We enjoyed the Party, but it's fairly safe to say that our minds were elsewhere, as the nerves over the coming events were not far from the surface.
The spread at our Epcot Dessert Party

The next day, most of our guests arrived, and that evening we all went to Epcot for what might have been the best event of the week....our private Illuminations dessert party. Wait...Did I just say it was the best event of the week? I mean, the second best event, following our wedding...of course. Whew...close one. Anyway, the Party was a truly special experience, and a great time was had by all. The holiday version of the show is spectacular, with a finale that is hard to beat, especially from our viewing spot in the UK pavilion. One downside...the wind was blowing straight at us, which meant all of our guests got free souvenirs in the form of pieces of exploded fireworks shells.
Best view in the house....Minus the raining ash of course.

Fast forward two days, and us newlyweds were ready for some rest and relaxation. We spent the day in the Grand Floridian spa, rented a water sprite, and capped our first day as husband and wife with dinner at Victoria & Albert's. I tried to capitalize on the situation by asking my wife if we could have this Christmas tree at Contemporary, which was decorated with accessories from the monorail toy set. She politely declined. Ppssshhh...marriage....
I still want this Christmas tree.

As our honeymoon continued, and Christmas inched closer, we celebrated by touring many of the resorts to see their holiday decorations. Having already seen the Christmas highlights at Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the only biggie left for us to hit was the Studios for the Osborne Spectacle of Lights. It's nearly impossible to avoid being in the Christmas spirit while surrounded by such an awesome display of sight and sound.

After eight nights in the World, and the creation of countless lifelong memories, it was time for us to return home. One benefit of planning the wedding when we did, was I avoided the usual post-trip depression, because our first day at home was Christmas. Disney is a wonderful place during the holidays, and I look forward to this coming December when we head to Disneyland to create more Disney Christmas memories. It's safe to say, however, that no trip will ever come close to topping that of our wedding.
